Turks and Caicos – Shortly after 4 pm on Thursday, August 08th, the Police Control Room received a distress call from a tour boat operator indicating a male victim was unresponsive following a diving expedition.
Officers of the Marine Branch of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force responded and met the vessel at sea, where the victim was transferred to the Police vessel and transported to the South Bank Marina, Providenciales.
The victim, who appeared to be in his sixties, was unresponsive while CPR was in progress and subsequently died.
This remains an active police investigation as detectives probe the circumstances of the death. The victim has been identified.
However, the RT&CIPF withholds the name pending the next of kin being informed.
The RT&CIPF extends condolences to the relatives of the deceased.
