Dominican Republic, August 15, 2024 – Fifty-eight athletes left the Dominican Republic for the Paris Summer Olympic Games and three medals were won by the team including a golden performance to keep the title of fastest woman at 400m safely within the Caribbean.
Marileidy Paulino smashed the 400m for a gold in the event on August 9. The other medals for the country were secured in Boxing, both of them bronze.
Paulino has been ranked No. 1 in the event in the world since May 2023. The 27-year-old from the Don Gregorio Village in the Peravia Province is vocal about her faith as a Christia; that it is that which is key to her athletic and philanthropic successes. She supports orphans and she credits her amazing speed and strength in this signature event, to God.
Marileidy has three Olympic medal; two silvers previously. This was the first gold for the DRs newest Champion.
