Water Sports Business Legislation CHANGE under consideration by TCI Cabinet

Turks and Caicos, July 17, 2024 – Her Excellency the Governor, Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, chaired the 22nd meeting of Cabinet held on Wednesday, 17th July 2024 at the Premier’s Office, Leeward Highway, Providenciales, commencing at 10:00 a.m.

All members of Cabinet were present with the exception of the Minister of Tourism.

At this meeting Cabinet:

  • Received a presentation from the Ministry of Tourism, Environment, Fisheries and Marine Affairs, Agriculture and Religious Affairs on the TCI Tourism Carrying Capacity Model.
  • Approved the appointment of the following persons as members of the Invest Turks & Caicos Board of Directors for a period of three (3) years:
    • Mr. Clayton Been
    • Mr. Andrew Hall
  • Reviewed and approved amendments to the Company Management (Licensing) (Amendment) Bill 2023 to progress to the House of Assembly.
  • Approved the amendments to the Company Management (Licensing) (Fees) Regulations.
  • Approved the recommendation for the mutation of Crown Land Parcel 60700/107 to create a public access road to facilitate unimpeded access to landlocked parcels.
  • Considered policy proposals in respect of Anti-Social Behaviour Orders.
  • Approved the payment of an Independent Valuation of parcel 60603/3 as ordered by the courts, in relation to a claim against government.
  • Received a presentation from the Ministry of Health and Human Services and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) on the Integrated Solid Waste Management Project Feasibility Study.
  • Considered amendments to Section 12 & 13 of Immigration Regulations: Requirements for the issuance of Permanent Residence Certificate – Exemption of Elderly persons from taking PRC exams.
  • Noted the award of the following contracts in line with the process according to the provisions of the Public Procurement Ordinance: Contract Award Notification:
    • PN 005561, TR 22/23-SSP, South Dock Port Redevelopment – Consultancy to Design South Dock Fuel Discharge Mooring
    • PN 005561, TR 22/24-SSP, South Dock Port Redevelopment – Consultancy Services for the Preparation of Design and Costs for Phases 3 and 4.
  • Approved the appointment of a member to the Turks and Caicos Islands Gaming Control Commission Board for two (2) years:
    • Sabrina Isaac
  • Considered the proposed changes to the business license Regulations and fee schedule category Tourism, Real Estate and Hospitality Services and remove activity 358- Water Sports Equipment Sales and Rentals.
