#TurksandCaicos, July 30, 2024 – Eagle Legal News has learned that the Jamaican American arrested in connection to a breach of the Firearms Ordinance was granted police bail pending his court appearance later this week.

We were further told he is still in police lock up at the Grace Bay Police station as he was unable to find anyone willing to sign surety on his behalf.

DAVE CREAVY, 48 and his wife Lakeena Natoy Creavy, 46 were both stopped and arrested for a single round of 9mm ammunition found in a black and grey backpack  while leaving the Turks and Caicos Islands to board a Southwest flight back home to  Orlando, Florida on Monday 29th July 2024.

The husband admitted, under caution when questioned by police, that the bullet was his. His wife was subsequently released from the allegations and cleared, facing no charges.

At a recent sentencing hearing,  Sharitta Grier, a female American tourist, her Ladyship the Hon. Ms. Tanya Lobban Jackson gave a very serious warning to visitors (more specifically Americans) that “don’t expect to visit the Turks and Caicos with ammunition or a firearm and not expect to do some jail time without a fine” She went on to say,  “even if exceptional circumstances are found in future persons is likely to be sent to prison.”

The learned judge explained her reasons and said these last five cases attracted worldwide attention, therefore everyone should know now that if you travel to the Turks and Caicos Islands with a bullet and/or firearm, you can be sentenced to prison.

Additionally, there have been many warnings issued by the US Embassy over the past few months.

She said this as a future warning at the Sharitta Grier sentencing hearing on Thursday, 11th July, 2024. Interesting remark, the Judge told the accused Grier that “she only barely made it over the mark.”

In other words, she was very near being sentenced straight to prison.

We will follow this case closely as to its outcome.
