‘Exceptional Circumstances’ clause cuts prison time for TCI Ambulance Driver found with bullets

#TurksandCaicos, July 3, 2024 – Turks and Caicos Islands His Lordship The Hon Mr. Justice Chris Selochan having accepted submissions by counsel for the defendant Mrs. Lara Maroof Misick, that this is a case of exceptional circumstances and to sentence the accused to the mandatory minimum of 12 years imprisonment for six rounds of ammunition and considering the circumstances of this case, would be “arbitrary and disproportionate.”

The judge agreed and accepted those arguments and on Monday July 1, sentenced the defendant, TERRELL JOSEPH to five years and four months imprisonment.
