Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Friday, 26 July 2024: The Turks and Caicos Islands Border Force is proud to announce a significant investment in human capital development.
Middle managers from the legacy Customs and Immigration Departments have completed a Leadership Certification course by the esteemed Caribbean Maritime University (CMU). This aligns with the continued commitment to enhancing leadership and operational effectiveness within the Border Force.
This initiative is a critical component of the Leading Effectively through Accountability and Development (LEAD) Programme, designed to equip managers with advanced skills and knowledge necessary to the modern demands of border management.
This intensive three-day course, delivered in person by CMU Faculty Dean Captain Devron S. Newman, equipped participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to be more effective leaders. The curriculum covered the psychological aspects of leadership, explored strategies for building and managing high-performing teams, and provided techniques for personal development, all critical skills for success in today’s fast-paced and demanding environment.
Commenting on this milestone, Minister of Immigration and Border Services, Hon. Arlington Musgrove, stated, “The LEAD Programme, now in its second year, reflects our commitment to professionalism, empowerment, accountability, and leadership. By enhancing the skills of our middle managers, we are not only improving the immediate capabilities of the Border Force but also laying a strong foundation for the future of border security and management in the Turks and Caicos Islands.”
The LEAD Programme will continue to be a valuable resource in developing strong, capable leaders who can effectively manage the complexities of border operations and guide the organisation towards a seamless transition to a Border Force.
