Two die in separate car crashes this weekend, another in critical condition

#TurksandCaicos, June 25, 2024 – The Turks and Caicos Islands has recorded two additional traffic deaths in under 24 hours.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force confirmed that shortly after 2 a.m.  on June 23rd, they received a report of a collision involving three vehicles on the Leeward Highway near Pratts Road in Providenciales.

Upon the arrival they observed that six people had sustained injuries.

A 36-year-old American woman died in the accident, while five others individuals – four females and one male – were rushed to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre for treatment. One of the injured females is currently listed in critical condition, according to a police report on the Sunday morning traffic accident.

It was almost exactly 24 hours before, in another traffic related incident, the RTCIPF reported that a male, later identified as Reggie Dickenson of Grand Turk, had succumbed to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision early on Saturday June 22.

According to initial police reports, shortly after 4 am, the Police Control Room received a report of a motor vehicle accident along the Lower Bight Road, Providenciales. Emergency Medical Technicians and officers of the RTCIPF responded to the scene of the crash. The officers noticed the driver was trapped inside a white Honda Fit. The victim was subsequently transported to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where he later died.

The officers are currently investigating the circumstances to determine the cause of both collisions. The public is advised to notify the closest police station or the Traffic Enforcement Unit at 232- 9645 and provide any information regarding these incidents.
