#TurksandCaicos, June 7, 2024 – A delegation from the Ministry of Education of the Turks and Caicos Islands, led by the Honorable Rachel Taylor, Minister of Education, attended the Education World Forum held from May 19th to May 22nd, 2024. The delegation included Deputy Permanent Secretary Ms. Keisha Taylor, Curriculum Development Officer Ms. Elisann Delancy, and Education Officer responsible for IT Mr. Eugene Grant.
The Education World Forum themed, “Encouraging AI Understanding, Building Human Relations and Resilience, and Accelerating Climate Change,” brought together representatives from 120 Ministries of Education across 114 countries. This annual event provided a global platform for sharing best practices and discussing the future of education amidst rapidly evolving challenges.
Honorable Rachel Taylor and the delegation engaged in high-level discussions with education ministers and experts worldwide. The forum’s sessions addressed critical questions, such as prioritizing policy and implementation to build a stronger, bolder, and better Education System. The insights gained from these discussions are invaluable for shaping the future of education in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Minister Taylor remarked on the importance of the forum: “Our participation in the Education World Forum has been incredibly beneficial. We have exchanged ideas on integrating AI in education, fostering resilience among our students, and addressing the urgent issue of climate change. The knowledge and strategies we have gathered will significantly enhance our educational initiatives home.”
The Ministry intends to leverage the many connections forged with Ministries of Education and subject matter experts at the forum to support the planned internal and national consultations that will be convened to chart the way forward on exploring and understanding AI: and how a structured and policy guided approach can support Education transformation in the TCI.
