#TurksandCaicos, June 7, 2024 – He was never granted bail, unlike his co-defendant, who was released on bail not long after their initial arrest and remand to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR).

JOSEPH ALEXANDER WILLIAMS aka Joey or Fingaz was apprehended just after midnight following a police chase involving a small grey Honda Fit on Thursday, July 22, 2021, nearly three years ago. This incident occurred in the Grace Bay area of Providenciales. The defendant lives in Leeward Palms but frequently visits The Bight, Providenciales.

He was originally charged alongside another accused, who was not present in court nor on the video link when Fingaz/Joey pleaded guilty to possession of a black 9mm Ruger firearm and six rounds of 9mm bullets on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

He appeared via video link from the DCR in Grand Turk before His Lordship, The Hon. Mr. Justice Davidson Kevin Baptiste. The Hon. Senior Deputy Registrar of the Grand Turk Supreme Court, Ms. Carnetta Skippings, read the firearm and ammunition charges to him separately, and he pleaded guilty to both.

King’s Counsel Mr. Oliver Smith represented the accused Williams throughout the proceedings. The court inquired about the co-accused, who is represented by Mrs. Lara Maroof Misick. Mr. Smith informed the court that the co-accused and his attorney were not present. However, he explained that he believed discussions and communications regarding the co-accused might be ongoing between Mrs. Maroof Misick and the prosecution’s office.

Representing the DPP’s office was Ms. Alima Alexis, public prosecutor.
