#TurksandCaicos, June 7, 2024 – The children and wider community members of Long Bay are set to have a modern recreational facility from a partnership involving Beach Enclave and the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI).

Developer and Chief Executive Officer of Beach Enclave, Vasco Borges said a vision that the entity had to “build a community with care” has now being realised, and “we have always been big supporters, and push quite a bit for training and elevating of local talents.

“Recently we decided to take that a step further, to go closer to the next generations. We started with our partnership with the Community College, a partnership with Thelma Lighbourne Primary School, and now with a child’s park which is a safe pace where your kids can run and play,” he said at the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the Long Bay Children’s Park.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Leeward and Long Bay, Akierra Missick, said as a private sector development, she believes that it will not take “that long to build, and we will be celebrating this in due course and more importantly as summer is knocking on our door our young people in the Long Bay Park of Leeward and Long Bay, will now have their facility that they can come to,” she said.

For Premier, Washington Misick, the Park will not “only be a pace of joy,” laughter and play for young children, but a symbol of “collective dedication” to create safe and enriching spaces.

The Premier who made the remarks, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Deputy Premier, and Minister for Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development,  Jamell Robinson, at a recent groundbreaking ceremony for upgrade of the facility, said the development represents community collaboration, and commitment for a positive future for children on the island.

“For the growth and development of our future generations, this park is a testament to our shared values of family, community and the wellbeing of our children,” the Premier said, adding that he deeply appreciates all the partners who have “worked tirelessly” to bring the project to its current stage.

Mr. Misick said the hard work and dedication for the passion of the community are “truly commendably,” and the unwavering commitment of the partners to make the project a reality, put everyone to move forward with “hope and excitement to the day when the Long Bay Children’s Park will be a vibrant hub of activity, a place where children can learn, play and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. Let us all join hands in celebration and unity as we lay the foundation for a brighter future for our community,” he said.

Long Bay is an incredible 3-mile (4.8 km) long beach on the southeast side of Providenciales. The water at this popular coast is breathtaking turquoise, with shallow depths leading off for a very great distance off the beach. Like nearly all beaches in the Turks and Caicos, the sand at Long Bay is white with perfect consistency.
