#TurksandCaicos, May 21, 2024 – CLEVON COX, facing charges of illegal possession and distribution of cocaine and marijuana, was released on bail by the police.
The 28-year-old stands accused of unlawfully possessing cocaine and cannabis on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, with alleged intent to distribute or supply to others.
Although Cox initially pleaded guilty to the offenses, he attempted to explain to the learned Chief Magistrate (CM), Mr. Jolyon Hatmin that he was not selling narcotics but merely hosting a party at the location in Kew Town where he was apprehended. However, the CM intervened, explaining that he couldn’t accept Cox’s guilty plea and would enter not guilty pleas on the intent to supply charges, as the matter might need to be tried.
The CM advised Cox to seek legal assistance, clarifying that one could be found guilty of intent to supply or distribute drugs even without directly selling narcotics.
The case has been rescheduled for mention on May 31st, with Cox, a TCI/Bahamian, released on bail set at $5,000.00.
