#TurksandCaicos, April 7, 2024 – Taking part in both the CARIFTA Games for Track and Field in Grenada and CARIFTA Aquatics in The Bahamas, the athletes have returned with a bronze medal, a national record and a plethora of personal bests.

CARIFTA Track and Field sent a team of 20 athletes who competed leaving their all at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium.  Antwon Walkin who is a two-time CARIFTA Medalist, returned home with the sole bronze medal earned in the Under 20 Boys Discus Throw.  Battling numerous injuries, he produced this medal at his final CARIFTA Games.

His twin brother Rayvon Walkin who medalled with a silver in the Decathlon at the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships the week prior, took his chances in the Octathlon. This was his first time competing in this event, and managed to remain in the top three until the 1500m which was the final event of the competition. He lost out on the podium position by just 100 points in a great effort.

Rayvon Walkin also had been enduring numerous injuries throughout the gruelling multi-event competition.

Tanesia Gardiner was also poised for a podium finish, ultimately finishing fourth in the Under 20 Girls 3000m. This is a great improvement for her in her Track and Field career. She is an Athlete Development Fund recipient, which will assist her in expounding on her current progress.

The record-holding team comprises of Ali Eliasu, Love Joseph, Daens Saint Hilaire and Rayvon Black. The new record stands at 3:29.08, previously being 3:36.54 set in Curaçao at the CARIFTA Games in 2017.
