#Dengue#Brazil, April 4, 2024 – Dengue continues to worsen in Brazil, already surpassing the 1000 deaths mark for 2024 on Wednesday April 3, now at 1,020 close to the all time record 1,094 for all of 2023. This was revealed by Brazil’s Ministry of Health and it says another 1,531 deaths are under investigation. Brazil already recorded 2.6 million probable infections for 2024 and the government reportedly expressed that in a worst case scenario, which is seemingly close to becoming reality, there could be up to 4.2 million cases, not far from the total for the entire Americas in 2023.

Despite the surge in cases, Brazil’s dengue fighting efforts remain strong, as it launched in February, a dengue vaccination campaign, the first in the world to do so. This comes as there have been low doses as well as low demand for dengue vaccines.
