#TurksandCaicos, April 15, 2024 – The Crown Land (Residential Conditional Purchase Lease) (Arrears and Mesne Profit) (Amnesty) Ordinance 2023 introduced a new amnesty initiative for individuals in arrears concerning Crown land. This two-year amnesty period aims to offer options recommended by the Crown Land Review Report to regularize residential conditional purchase leases and waive associated arrears and mesne profit.

As at June 1, 2023, holders of current registered residential Conditional Purchase Leases or their representatives, including Executors or Administrators of the Estate, may apply to the Crown Land Unit under the following options:

  1. Conversion of Residential Conditional Purchase Lease to Freehold title without payment of arrears owed to the Crown.
  2. Payment for a freehold title in installments, subject to specified conditions.
  3. Conversion of Residential Conditional Purchase Lease to a long lease, subject to certain conditions.
  4. Parcel adjustment, reconfiguration, or exchange to facilitate the acquisition of freehold title.

Additionally, holders of registered Residential Conditional Purchase Leases are encouraged to seize the opportunity to enjoy a 50% discount on the purchase price of residential crown land, applicable only during the two-year amnesty period.

For further information, individuals are encouraged to visit the Crown Land Unit website at www.gov.tc/crownland/rcplamnesty

To apply under one of the aforementioned options during the amnesty, we invite persons to visit one of our Crown Land Unit Offices in Grand Turk and Providenciales conveniently located at:

  • Providenciales Office:6 Parade Avenue, Downtown

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to providing opportunities for residents to secure their interests in Crown land while promoting responsible land management practices. It is part of ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, equity, and accessibility in the management of Crown land resources.
