#TurksandCaicos, February 15, 2024 – Two Grand Turk  firearms incidents are now being investigated by Police. The discharge of firearms follows a daylight murder in the capital on February 9th.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force revealed that around 9:25 Tuesday February 13 a man was shot-at while he drove in Over Back, Grand Turk.

No motive was shared for the incident in which the victim said a single person pointed the gun at him and fired. He managed to escape injury.

Hours earlier on Monday night, still in Over Back, residents of Grand Turk were left frightened when shots began to ring out just before 8 pm.

Officers rushed to the location but no one was arrested for the shooting. The scene was processed but thankfully based on investigations, no injuries were reported.

Magnetic Media received several messages concerning the Monday night shooting.

“This one was just outside of my house. My grandchildren and me —-  are all shaken up. Someone jumped over into my yard and they were shooting at them,” said one resident.

Commenting on both incidents, acting Commissioner of Police Christopher Eyre who took up his position on Monday said: “Acts of violence have no place in our society. The RTCIPF are fully committed to bringing those responsible to justice. We are increasing patrols and implementing measures to augment the strength of officers in Grand Turk to prevent further acts of lawlessness.”

Eyre promised to use all available resources to apprehend the perpetrators.
