#TurksandCaicosIslands, February 23, 2024 – ĴACQUELINE CADET was found GUILTY by a Grand Turk seven member jury with a make-up of four women and three men on Friday, February 9th 2024.
The trial ran for nearly four weeks, and the allegations against the defendant were that he was in possession of an illegal gun on or around December 20th, 2022 in Providenciales.
Cadet was arrested and remanded to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation(DCR) or His Majesty’s Prison without bail shortly after the illegal findings.
Representing the defendant was Mrs Lara Maroof Misick, and the trial was before his Lordship, The Hon. Mr. Justice Davidson Kevin Baptiste and a jury.
Channeling the evidence for the office of the Director of Public Prosecution was Ms. Alima Alexis.
Sentencing was deferred to later this month (February 2024), and the likelihood of a 12-year sentence is imminent.
