Cynthia Pratt, during her first official visit to Grand Bahama, visited the recently opened Obadiah Wilchcombe Administrative Complex in Eight Mile Rock on Saturday, January 13, 2024.   The complex houses government agencies and eliminates the need for residents of West Grand Bahama to travel to Freeport to conduct business.

While there, representatives of Public Service and Labour, the Post Office, Social Services, Immigration, Parliamentary Registration Department, Road Traffic Department, the Magistrates Court, Police Station and West Grand Bahama District Council were on hand to greet Her Excellency.

She was accompanied by the Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry for Grand Bahama Kingsley Smith, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Grand Bahama Melvin Seymour and other senior government and police officials.

During the two-hour visit, the Governor-General took a few moments to greet all those present.

Prior to visiting the complex, Her Excellency stopped in at ElNet Maritime Center, greeting the 4th Cohort of Elnet Maritime’s programme; visited some residents of Eight Mile Rock; and had lunch with seniors in West End at Mary Magdalene Anglican Church.

She had arrived on the island Thursday, and on Friday made the ‘Annual Visit of the Governor General’ to the Rand Memorial Hospital.

The Governor General scheduled attendance at a religious service at St. Matthew’s Baptist Church in Pelican Point, East Grand Bahama, prior to her departure from Grand Bahama.
