TCIG Ministries to Witness Strategic Overhaul in Policy Development Process

#TurksandCaicos, January 18, 2024 – The Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) embarks on a transformative initiative as it launches the project, “The Review and Improvement of the Strategic Planning and Policy Department (SPPD) Policy Templates.” This project aims to enhance the efficiency, clarity, and standardization of policy development processes within TCIG.

Overview:

The Strategic Planning and Policy Department (SPPD) is set to undergo a comprehensive review of its policy templates, including the Draft Policy Template, Cabinet Policy Paper Template, Risk Register Model, Policy and Flow Chart. The initiative is designed to elevate the quality and consistency of policy submissions to Cabinet and subsequent adoption by all government departments.

Objectives:

The primary objectives of this project are to:

  1. Review the existing policy templates for simplification, improvement, and standardization.
  2. Develop updated and streamlined policy templates aligned with best practices.
  3. Provide initial training sessions to SPPD staff on the approved policy template(s) for seamless government-wide implementation.
  4. Strengthen coordination between SPPD and government departments through effective communication and collaboration.

Scope of Work:

The consultancy will involve a comprehensive assessment of existing policy templates and related processes. The consultant will identify areas for improvement, simplification, and standardization based on best practices. The deliverables include draft policy templates, training materials, and a finalized version of the policy templates for submission and approval.

Timeline:

The project is expected to include several phases and unfold over a 3-month period beginning in early January 2024.
