#TheBahamas, January 19, 2024 – The Nassau Cruise Port scored big for the New Year with a new one day visitor record, the highest in history, gaining more than 29,000 passengers on December 27th, 2023.

A total of 29,316 cruise guests were welcomed from six different vessels, breaking the port’s previous one day record of 28,554 on February 27th, 2023.

Mike Maura, Jr., CEO of the port, expressed that these new numbers are thanks to the recent infrastructure investments like increasing the port’s capacity to now berth six ships.

“As part of the port project, we extended berth one and we built a brand-new berth six. Those investments directly contributed to the 29,316 passengers that we welcomed on Wednesday,” he said.

Contributing to the record arrivals were ships from Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, Disney Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises: Oasis of the Seas, Carnival Dream, Disney Wish, MSC Meraviglia, Carnival Liberty, and Anthem of the Seas.

This comes just under a month after the Port broke its annual record late November, 2023.

The annual passenger record of 3,859,183 travelers, according to reports, was set in 2019. But as of November 30th, 2023, the port had already seen 3,869,003 visitors.

As reported, the port is dedicated to continue improving infrastructure to ensure great experiences for all guests. Not only will direct port projects be a part of the future plan, additional investment in the downtown area will be a key part of welcoming guests.
