Trial begins for Two men who led Police on High Speed Car Chase

#TurksandCaicos, December 5, 2023 – Two men who allegedly refused to comply with police as they attempted to stop their Grey Honda Fit vehicle and led officers on a high speed chase on Thursday July 22nd, 2021, in Grace Bay, Providenciales had their trial listed to commence on Monday 4th December, 2023 at the Grand Turk Supreme Court.

The trial, expected to run two or more weeks, names JOSEPH ALEXANDER WILLIAMS, 33 and DARAN LASHAWN KELLY, 35 as the suspects.  Jury selection in the matter will begin and presiding is, his Lordship Judge Davidson Kevin Baptiste.

The men were initially charged with:-

  • Carrying Unlicensed Firearm.
  • Carrying Unlicensed Ammunition.

  • Unlawful Possession Of Controlled drugs, namely Cocaine.

  • Unlawful Possession Of Controlled drugs, namely Cannabis/Weed.

  • Unlawful Possession Of a controlled drugs, namely Amphetamine(Pills)

  • Possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply or distribute to another or others.

Williams, who is represented by Oliver Smith KC, is on remand since his arrest.  The other suspect, Kelly, represented by Lara Maroof-Misick, is out on bail.
