THE TURKS AND CAICOS COMMUNITY COLLEGE LEADERSHIP ATTENDS P3 HIGHER EDUCATION SUMMIT

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, 21st December, 2023 – The Turks and Caicos Islands Community College (TCICC) was proudly represented at the recent P3 (Public, Private Partnership) Higher Education Summit, held at the Grand Hyatt in San Diego, California, USA, on 16th and 17th November 2023. Dr. Barbara Ambrister, Chair of the Board of Governors, and Dr. Candice Williams, President/CEO, comprised the distinguished delegation representing TCICC.

The P3 Higher Education Summit is an annual gathering of influential leaders in the education sector, focusing on advancements in various approaches to procurement, design, financing, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of the college’s infrastructure. This year’s programme delved into innovative ways to apply these insights to campuses and upcoming projects.

Dr. Ambrister shared her insights on the relevance of the summit, stating, “Participating in the P3 Higher Education Summit has been an enlightening experience. It’s crucial for institutions like ours to stay abreast of the latest trends and practices in higher education, particularly in the areas of procurement and project management. This summit has provided unique ideas and strategies for funding, partnering with public and private investors for short and long-range planning.”

Dr. Candice Williams, President/CEO of TCICC, also emphasised the importance of incorporating new education technologies into P3 projects. She remarked, “The Summit highlighted how we can leverage technology to enrich learning experiences, and how to collaborate on financing capital projects. It’s essential for us to explore these opportunities as we continue to shape the educational landscape at TCICC.”

This year’s summit featured discussions on various aspects of higher education, including Financing New Technologies to Enhance Tertiary Education, Asset Monetisation Strategies for Colleges and Universities, A Practical P3 Exploratory Framework, How to Deliver a Project with the P3 Model? among others.

The TCICC delegation actively engaged in discussions, bringing back valuable insights that will contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the college’s initiatives. Subsequently, the Chair and President were able to meet with one of the investors in the TCI where ongoing discussions on collaboration will be discussed.
