#AntiguaandBarbuda, December 15, 2023 – Ricardo Drue, international soca artist suddenly passed away at the age of 38 on Tuesday December 12th, 2023, leaving the Caribbean and international soca lovers saddened.
The renowned artist is an Antigua and Barbuda native and known for many songs such as 2023’s Last One Standing, 2022s Tornado and 2020’s Vagabond.
According to reports, Drue was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre after he was found unresponsive in his room.
His cause of death has not yet been announced.
Fans are seen in the comment section of his songs on YouTube, expressing sorrow at his death.
For instance, one person said, “RIP Drue, thanks for all the good memories,” and another with, “sing in paradise Drue, thank you for the impact you made in the music industry.”
Patricia Roberts, Trinidadian soca artist who was engaged to Drue said, “I’d do anything to hear your voice, wake up!”
Roberts is now left to raise their seven-year-old daughter without her father.
Other soca artists are giving heat felt reactions to his untimely passing.
“I’m utterly confused and I don’t know how it’s possible! What a great soul, positivity and light. I send my deepest condolences and prayers to your family Patrice Roberts, only God knows why and He has a plan. May he rest in peace,” said Trinidadian singer Nailah Blackman.
Another, Bunji Garlin said, “Our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Ricardo Drue at this time. It was and still is an honour to call him friend and brother as always when we see each other. He had a strong vision of self and where he wanted to take it. Love and respect to the fullest brother.”
