#TurksandCaicos, December 15, 2023 – JAVIN GREENE was set free in 15 minutes in a one day Supreme Court ammunition trial before his Lordship The Hon Mr. Justice Davidson Kevin Baptiste and a Grand Turk jury.

King’s Counsel, Oliver Smith challenged the investigation by Police, who charged his client for alleged possession of three rounds of ammunition said to have been found in the family home where he was an occupant in 2021.

When GREENE was arrested and charged, he was granted bail and released by the Supreme Court pending his trial. The case was in limbo for so long, Greene sometime later, found he had breached his bail conditions and was remanded to prison in Grand Turk.

Prosecuting the 24 hours (one day trial) which started on Monday November 20 was Andrew Mitchell, KC, who serves as lead prosecutor in the SIPT trials.

Having heard the case for the Crown against Greene, presented by Mitchell and hearing counsel Smith’s defense on behalf of his client, the learned judgment summed-up the case to the jury, which deliberated for 15-minutes and returned with a not guilty verdict.

The accused, by the jury’s acquittal, was spared a mandatory seven years imprisonment for ammunition.
