#TurksandCaicos, December 5, 2023 – The sentencing of convicted, Jean ETIENNE DOR for firearm and ammunition found in his house had been adjourned in late November; with a decision on the serious offence due this week.
Court officials were unable to get his Lordship, The Hon. Mr. Justice Chris Selochan on a flight to Grand Turk on Monday November 27th, 2023 to hear sentencing submissions and mitigation by defense counsel Lara Maroof Misick.
Tassja Mitchell, the Crown’s Senior Public Prosecutor who had conduct of the case throughout, would also be given an opportunity to respond before his Lordship passed sentence on the now convicted man.
The Judge, on November 27th indicated that he was starting a new trial in Grand Turk on Monday, December 4th but that he would leave the afternoon for this sentencing hearing to commence at 2:30pm.
Jean ETIENNE DOR was found guilty on Wednesday, November 8th by a five member Grand Turk jury for a firearm and 12 rounds of ammo found on April 25th 2022 in his Five Cays residence.
Sentencing for Dor has now been moved adjourned December 12, 2023.
