#TurksandCaicos, December 21, 2023 – With days left before the end of the year, the promised Fire Truck for North Caicos is on the way.  Arlington Musgrove Elected Member for the Twin Islands made the revelation during the House of Assembly on December 19th.

“As I stand here this morning, the Turks and Caicos Islands Airport Authority is waiting for shipping to carry the fire truck to Provo, and then to North Caicos, good things are happening in North and Middle Caicos.”

It will certainly be a relief for residents of the Twin Islands, who in March of this year suffered a major fire that began near Whitby Haven.  The fire spread along dry brush and scorched four acres of land leaving residents to work overnight to contain it.  Firefighters from Providenciales only came in the next day because of travel constraints.

Upkeep of emergency infrastructure and equipment has been a recurring issue that affects administration after administration.

Speaking in the House of Assembly the day after the March fire, the government had promised to address the issue in the upcoming budget cycle; that promise is now practically fulfilled.
