Turks & Caicos Attends Northern Caribbean Security Summit Practitioner’s Meeting 2023

#TurksandCaicos, November 25, 2023 – A Turks and Caicos Islands delegation, including the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police, TCI Regiment, TCI Border Force and National Security Secretariat, attended the Northern Caribbean Security Summit (NOCSS) practitioners meeting on 15-16 November 2023. The NOCSS meeting was facilitated by the US Embassy in Nassau and hosted at the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Base at Coral Harbor in Nassau, Bahamas.

The annual NOCCS practitioners’ meeting included participation and briefings from various National Security agencies from the United States, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. This operational meeting of NOCCS partners is a precursor to the annual NOCCS Ministerial Conference, scheduled to be hosted by the Commonwealth of the Bahamas in 2024.

The practitioners’ meeting focused on identifying current threats, trends and opportunities concerning Improving Maritime Operations, Illicit Firearms Trafficking, Narcotics Smuggling, Human Smuggling and Dismantling Transnational Criminal Organizations.

The primary objective of the NOCCS practitioners’ meeting is to explore solutions for our shared national security threats and to look for ways to improve coordination and partnership amongst our three countries.
