#TurksandCaicos, November 10, 2023 – Ianthe Pratt Primary Administrators are now urging parents to pick up their children from school promptly when they are dismissed to ensure safety and security following the gunpoint robbery of a little boy on Halloween.

Text messages regarding the shocking  incident began to circulate late Tuesday evening and the Ministry of Education confirmed the harrowing ordeal on Wednesday morning.

Now Police are investigating the armed attack that targeted that student outside of school on October 31st.

The young student, we are told,  was divested of valuables while waiting for a ride home.  Ianthe Pratt Primary is situated in the midst of a teeming tourist spot as well. He reportedly rushed back to his teachers after being held at gunpoint who took charge of the situation, calling in the police.

The Ministry did not report any injuries to the child but confirmed that students and staff are extremely shaken up by the incident.  They say they have arranged counseling services and support systems for students and parents in the wake of the ordeal.

The Ministry of Education had promised in 2022 that security guards would be deployed to all schools in the country following violence in Providenciales that shut down two government schools.

“Not only will Enid Capron see an increase in security but all our other schools,” Rachel Taylor, Minister of Education, had said.

We contacted Taylor via email to find out how that plan was progressing but there was no response.

The Ministry has promised updates regarding the investigation.
