November 18, 2023 – It’s the time of year for the exciting Miss Universe Pageant and the preliminary competition kicked off on Wednesday November 15th and the representatives from the Caribbean did not disappoint.

The pageant’s costume segment featured the representatives of all 84 competing countries, all proudly  taking the stage in their uniquely designed costumes that mirrors various aspects of the country being represented.

Costume designs were nothing short of impressive. The Caribbean region’s representatives include Mariana Downing of the Dominican Republic, turning heads with a beautifully crafted plantain themed costume, in the colors of green, brown and purple.

There was also Jamaica and the Bahamas, Jamaica’s Jordanne Lauren Levy, rocking a ocean/coral reef themed costume carrying a dazzling blue and a high top reef hat; and The Bahamas’ Melissa Ingraham in a brown straw doll costume with straw woven designs such as the heart shaped hand fan and the broad hat, with hints of aquamarine.

Additionally, Curacao’s Kim Rossen, came out in a beautiful golden Olympic themed costume, carrying the Olympic Rings on her back supported by golden wings as she holds the Olympic torch.

On Saturday November 18th, 2023, the winner for best national costume will be announced and the new Miss Universe crowned.

This marks the Miss Universe Pageant’s 72nd anniversary which is being held at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador.
