Free Training still On, Energy Management & Energy Audit Training

November 14, 2023 – In observance of the CARICOM Energy Month 2023, the Energy and Utilities Department (EUD) under the Ministry of Public Safety and Utilities along with the TCI RESEMBID Sustainable Energy Project, cordially invite interested participants, public servants (all levels), private sector employees and employers, homeowners and business owners, housewives and property managers, to join our online Energy Management and Energy Audit Training.  This free online training will take place from 13th to 17th November at 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM. On completion of this training programme, participants will be better able to do the following:

  • Explain the fundamental principles of Energy Management
  • Explain the fundamental principles of Energy Audits
  • Understand the basic steps in performing a residential energy audit
  • Understand the concept of sustainable buildings and carbon intensity of buildings.

A certificate of completion will be given to those who participated at least 75% of the training hours.  To achieve these four key objectives of this training programme, participants will be engaged in meaningful discussions on the topics listed below while gaining practical skills through interactive participation on planned activities.  The list of topics to be covered are as follows:

  •  Why study Energy Management?
  • Starting an Energy Management Program
  • Why Energy Management First?
  • Energy Audit Terms and Definitions
  • Types of Energy Surveys or Audits
  • Goals of the Energy Audit
  • Analysis of Energy Bills
  • Steps in the On-Site Energy Audit
  • The Energy Audit Report/Format
  • Exercises – Residential & Commercial Energy Audit Spreadsheets and Carbon Footprint Calculations for Buildings.

This training programme is part of the capacity building activities of the TCI Sustainable Energy Project titled, “Transitioning Towards Green Energy in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The project is made possible through the support of the Resilience, Sustainable Energy, and Marine Biodiversity (RESEMBID) Programme. RESEMBID is a 47-project progamme funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France – the development cooperation agency of the Government of France and supports sustainable human development efforts in 12 Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) – Aruba, Anguilla, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Montserrat, Saba, Sint Eustatius, Saint Barthélemy, Sint Maarten and Turks and Caicos.
