#TurksandCaicos, November 14, 2023 – On Thursday November 9, Premier Honourable Charles Washington Misick attended the Fortis TCI Energy Transition Roundtable under the theme: Advancing the Conversation. The Minister with responsibility for Utilities, Honourable Otis Morris, joined Premier and brought brief remarks. Other Cabinet members in attendance were the Minister for Physical Planning and Infrastructure, Honourable Jamell Robinson and the Minister for Tourism, Environment, Culture and Religious Affairs, Honourable Josephine Connolly.
FortisTCI decided on a stellar cast to discuss the Turks and Caicos’ efforts toward a sustainable energy future, including: Bob Rowe, Senior Advisor at Guggenheim Partners and Venture Partner at The Westly Group, will be a featured speaker at our Energy Transition Roundtable set for tomorrow, November 9, 2023. Mr. Rowe will delve into the topic: “Evolving the Regulatory Compact: A Partnership Between Government and Utilities.”
His presentation was touted as on that would, “underscore the pivotal roles that governments, policymakers, and utility leaders play in crafting an appropriate and equitable regulatory framework. He will discuss how these entities can collaborate to facilitate the energy transition while simultaneously meeting demand and fulfilling the expectations of multiple stakeholders.”
Philip Moeller, Executive Vice President, Business Operations Group and Regulatory Affairs at the Edison Electric Institute, was also an invited guest and is an expert who presented on the topic: ‘Evolving the Regulatory Compact: A Partnership Between Government and Utilities’ at our event.
Moeller’s session was designed to dissect governments, policymakers, and utility leaders’ collaborative roles in developing a fitting and equitable regulatory framework. It will delve into how these entities can work together to facilitate the energy transition while meeting the demand and satisfying the expectations of multiple stakeholders.
Additionally, the session was an opportunity to exchange regulatory best practices from around the globe, offering valuable insights for our stakeholders.
Terry Travis, Managing Partner and Co-founder of EVNoire, centered on ‘Accelerating Multi Modal
Electrification in the Caribbean.’
According to a FortisTCI social media post, Travis planned to explore the expansion opportunities for electrifying the transportation sector in the Caribbean and the role of utilities in fostering an ecosystem that supports EV adoption across the region. He’ll also share lessons we can learn from other parts of the world.
And from the company’s pool of experienced executives, would come Ruth Forbes, the President and CEO of FortisTCI to deliver the opening remarks at the November 9, 2023 Energy Transition Roundtable.
Mrs. Forbes is recognized as one of the few female CEOs in the utility sector serving the Caribbean region, having led FortisTCI in intensifying its focus on achieving a supportive regulatory environment for the energy sector.
