Former Police, Mikhail Hinson found Guilty by Judge

#TurksandCaicos, November 25, 2023 – Following a five-day gun possession trial, a verdict in the matter of an ex-cop was on Wednesday November 15th, 2023 handed down; he was found GUILTY.

The accused was represented by King’s Counsel, Oliver Smith in a judge alone trial; Hinson had opted for a trial without a jury.

The case was in the Grand Turk Supreme court before His Lordship The Hon. Mr. Justice Davidson Kevin Baptiste.

MIKHAIL HINSON, 33 had his trial started on Thursday October 19th to Wednesday 26th October.  The matter, once all of the evidence was presented, had been adjourned by the judge for consideration of that evidence.  A final decision was handed down on Wednesday November 15, 2023 as GUILTY.

The Office of the DPP, Principal Public Prosecutor, Clement Joseph has conduct of this matter.

MIKHAIL HINSON, had a short stint as a member of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police.  He remains in custody pending sentencing which is scheduled for just before Christmas on 15th December, 2023. He is facing the then minimum of seven years imprisonment.
