CJ Commits THREE to Trial; Rubiee Forbes on Bullet charge and an alleged Rapist

#TurksandCaicos, November 14, 2023 – Presiding over all the sufficiency hearing proceedings on Friday November 10th, 2023 was her Ladyship the Hon. Chief Justice, Mrs. Mable Agyemang.

#1. The Crown is forcefully pursuing the one bullet case against RUBIEE FORBES, despite public outrage over the case against the popular barmaid who is facing a possible 12 year sentence.

Crown public prosecutor Ms. Sophia Sandy-Smith outlined the facts and evidence against the female defendant and with no challenge from her attorney, Ms. Kimone Tennant, her Ladyship the CJ committed Rubiee Forbes to trial in the Supreme Court.  Forbes, who was arrested at the JAGS McCartney International Airport in late July when a single bullet was reportedly detected in her luggage, will be required to entered  a plea on Thursday  November 23rd, 2023 at the Plea and Directions Hearing (PDH). Her bail was extended.

#2. CHABO CAPRON was also committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court. The CJ found on the submissions and evidence presented by the public prosecutor, SOPHIA Sandy-Smith, that the Crown made out a sufficient case against the accused on firearm, ammunition and drugs charges.

Capron is next in court on the plea and directions date of Thursday November 23rd, 2023. He was represented by Mr. Finbar Grant who conceded to the sufficiency. CAPRON remains on remand at the penal institution.

#3. A lady who was allegedly brutally gang-raped by two men will see at least one of her accused attackers EVENS SYLHINS face trial following his sufficiency hearing.  The incident reportedly happened on May 7, 2023; an early morning sexual attack.

The CJ accepted that there was sufficient evidence to put him on trial in the Supreme Court.  Evens Sylhins was further remanded without bail to his plea and directions hearing, which is set for Thursday November 23rd, 2023.
