My Government is outraged at the brazen act of violence that took place yesterday evening.

My government condemns these senseless shootings that have occurred on Providenciales and will stop at nothing to protect our citizens, residents, visitors, and businesses.  These acts of criminality are a cancer that must be removed from our society because it does not reflect who we are.  Gang violence, guns in particular, we are committed to rooting out from our community.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) is working assiduously to investigate the incident that occurred yesterday. My government is determined to root out this evil and will spare no resources, including equipment and manpower, to eliminate crime. The recently introduced anti-gang legislation has strengthened sentencing for those found with firearms and is now bearing fruit with the recent arrests and charges.

However, my government cannot tackle crime alone, and it requires the support of the people residing on these islands to provide any information that may aid in the investigations. The Government has heavily invested in protecting its people and will continue to take every possible measure to ensure their safety. The Government is resolute in its efforts to eradicate crime and assures its people of its focused and committed actions towards this cause.

May God continue to bless the Turks and Caicos Islands.”
