Shooting Incident and Woundings

#TurksandCaicosIslands, October 20, 2023 – JUMILLA ISMA, 24, of Five Cays, Providenciales, and MIKE FORBES,19, also of Five Cays were shot and killed yesterday (October 19th) evening. The RTCIPF extends their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Her Excellency the Governor, Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam and the Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. Rodney Adams strongly denounce violent acts that serve to threaten the safety of our islands.

Her Excellency the Governor said: “I am appalled at the nature of yesterday’s fatal incident.  Such disregard for human life causes irreparable damage and consequential impact to the safety and security of our islands.  I want to reassure the public of the multi-agency enforcement efforts to protect and secure our communities. I urge anyone with information to contact the police to assist their investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Commissioner Adams said: “The Force is taking every action including deploying all required resources to bring those responsible to justice. Additional patrols are in place to ensure safety and security across all communities of the TCI. I wish to give residents and visitors the reassurance that their safety is our number one priority.”

“Based on our preliminary investigation, this was a targeted incident.”

Additionally, Commissioner Adams said: “Over the past days you would have seen an increased police and partner agencies presence within various communities.  We have placed a high priority on covering several districts and conducting operations to derail and dismantle criminal activities.”

Commissioner Adams is asking members of the public who have video footage of this incident to urgently contact the police.

The public is being asked to contact 911, the closest police station, the RTCIPF Serious Crime Unit at 232-8752, or call TCI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 and give any information about illegal activity anonymously.

Additionally, persons are encouraged to contact the Miami-Dade & Florida Keys Crime Stoppers at 1-305-471-8477 and give any information anonymously.
