#Kenya, October 16, 2023 – Haiti will see the arrival of a Kenya Led multinational force after all, as Kenya’s Cabinet on Friday October 13th approved the deployment of 1000 officers for the Republic’s peacekeeping mission.

This comes after Kenya’s high court made the decision to halt the sending of troops to the gang-run nation until October 24th, due to Ekuru Aukot, a former presidential candidate, who filed a  petition questioning the constitutionality of the mission.

ABC reports that Kithure Kindiki, the Interior Minister, on Thursday the 12th of October, went before a national assembly committee on the deployment, informing that parliament’s approval is required before any troops are sent.

Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome was with Kindiki and he revealed that training had started for the first group of officers to be sent to Haiti.

However a date is still yet to be confirmed by Kenya for the deployment.
