AI to enhance Jamaica’s tourism sector

#Jamaica, October 18, 2023 – Jamaica’s Sandals Resorts International is now utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance its tourism industry.

Described as a transformational move on the Ministry’s Facebook, AI is being leveraged to train employees via virtual and augmented reality.

The technology is used via a platform under a partnership between Sandals Corporate University (SCU) and EON Reality.  The partnership and platform were  launched on Thursday October 5th where the Honourable Edmund Bartlett, Tourism Minister, expressed that the development as having the potential to dramatically reform and mold education and training in the Tourism sector.

“This platform offers the potential to advance education and training outcomes to unprecedented levels, thereby guaranteeing that our workforce is not just knowledgeable but also well-equipped to meet the future needs and challenges of a dynamic industry that operates in a rapidly changing environment,” he maintained.

Furthermore, Bartlett referred to the launch of the Platform called EON XR, as a milestone innovation, and that it will mark the start of Jamaica’s tourism workers transitioning into a new technological age.

Additionally, Sandals had started using the technology to train more than 16,000 of its employees across the Caribbean.
