#TurksandCaicos, September 26, 2023 – The National Youth Week 2023, organized by the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports & Social Services, is being celebrated in the Turks and Caicos Islands from Sunday, September 24, to Friday, September 29, 2023.

The objective of the week-long event is to encourage, engage, empower and celebrate the youth of the islands. The official youth week commenced with a church service held at St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral on the island of Grand Turk, on September 24. The theme of the service was “Celebrating Youth Leadership (Empower, Envision, Energize, Educate, Engage)”. The service was attended by all uniform groups and schools on the island.

The youth week celebration continued in the evening with a gospel concert, where youth from across the Turks and Caicos Islands came together to give thanks and praise to God.

On Monday, various soft skills displays and job fairs were organized across the islands to provide a platform for the youth to explore their talents, showcase their skills, and absorb knowledge for their overall well-being. The youth exhibition allowed them to showcase their products, services, and business ideas.

The highlight of the week is the first National Youth Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, September 27. The ceremony recognizes individual achievements and serves as a symbol of encouragement and motivation for young people across the country. By celebrating their successes, we inspire a sense of pride, instill a belief in their abilities, and encourage them to reach even greater heights.

The Honourable Rachel Taylor, the Minister responsible for the Department of Youth Affairs, has urged everyone to support National Youth Week and honor, highlight, and uplift youth who have made bold efforts to become engaged in pursuits with issues that concern the youth of these islands.
