Mike Clerveaux Appointed As Director of Housing and Community Renewal  

#TurksandCaicos, September 15, 2023 – The Office of the Deputy Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Mike Clerveaux to the post of Director of the Housing and Community Renewal Department within the Ministry of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development.

Mr. Clerveaux holds a Master of Science in Built Environment (Specialization in Geomatics) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, both from the University of Technology (UTECH), Jamaica. He also holds a Diploma in Education in Industrial Arts from the Mico Teachers’ College, Kingston, Jamaica.

Mr. Clerveaux’s first substantial post with the Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TGIG) was at the Clement Howell High School in 1997, where he taught Woodwork and Technical Drawing for five years, moulding young minds and developing critical skill sets.

Mr. Clerveaux dedicated seven (7) years to the Department of Planning as a Land Use Planner. He later joined the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) as the Hazard Mitigation Officer and was later appointed to the Hazard Mitigation and GIS Manager post. During his tenure at DDME, Mr. Clerveaux acted as both the Director and Deputy Director for lengthy periods until he was appointed the Deputy Director of Housing and Community Renewal.

In the Deputy Director of Housing post, Mr. Clerveaux worked closely with the former Director of Housing in drafting the 2023 National Housing Policy and Programs launched in July 2023. He also worked closely with the former Director in building the current staff capacity to oversee the implementation of the three Housing Programs in the coming months.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Clerveaux stated:

“I am grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate my ability and leadership skills in this role as the new Director of Housing and Community Renewal. I am also thankful for all the support and guidance I received from many great people I have encountered. Because of your mentorship and encouragement, I am where I am today!”

Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service, Her Excellency Anya Williams, in extending congratulations to Mr. Clerveaux said:

“It gives me great pleasure to officially congratulate Mr. Mike Clerveaux on his appointment as the new Director of the Housing and Community Renewal Department following the promotion of the former Director, Mr. Dominique Durham, to the post of Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development.
