Magistrate Court Travelled to North Caicos; Teens held for Sex and Drug Crimes

#TurksandCaicos, September 15, 2023 – On Wednesday August 23rd, 2023 all court personnel along with the Hon. Chief Magistrate travelled to North Caicos and dealt with five criminal matters ranging from possession of drugs, to theft and a juvenile sexual assault case.

Details were scant in the sexual assault case where the 14-year-old boy was charged as the perpetrator.  The minor was remanded and transported from North Caicos to Providenciales to be held in the Grace Bay Police station until the following day Thursday 24th August 2023.

Magnetic Media and other persons were not allowed in the court as his proceedings was on-going but we were able to observe he was again further remanded to the Grace Bay Police station in Providenciales until Monday 28th August, 2023.  We observed the boy with tears pouring down his face; crying profusely as he was escorted to the police station.

On Monday August 28th, in Providenciales his mother and father attended court along with Social Services personnel. Subsequently, inexplicably, the suspect was released.

At this time, there is no further information on the matter.

Four other matters were presided over by the Chief Magistrate in North Caicos, the included:

#1. PERETTE ARISNORD, 34 who was charged with Assault Occasioning Actual bodily Harm. (AOABH). He pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned to November 22nd, 2023 for trial. Arisnord was released pending trial and ordered not to contact the virtual complainant.

#2. A senior adult male identified to the court as, RICARDO ALEXANDER FORBES was placed on a probationary order for 12 months under the alternative sentencing ordinance.  His offences were theft and handing stolen goods.

#3.  A 17 year old was charged with possession of controlled drugs.  His matter was adjourned to 27th September, 2023.

#4 JOSH ANDREW MCINTOSH, 34 who was in court answering to a Malicious Damage to Property (MDTP) charge; the matter was adjourned to September 27th, 2023. The accused pleaded not guilty.
