#TurksandCaicos, September 19, 2023 – The opposition PDM party is displeased with the Government’s handling of the crime situation in Providenciales, particularly Five Cays and is calling on them to do more, according to a new letter which they say is not politically motivated.

“Despite promises from the Government to address this issue, even a simple request from citizens to meet with their MP has been denied by the Premier himself.  The people of five cays feel forsaken as if they are the forgotten children of the country.  To make matters worse, the Premier accused them of playing partisan politics while families continue to grieve the loss of their loved ones,” the letter accused, repeating allegations from residents, that they had sought a meeting regarding crime and were rebuffed by the country leader.

The Opposition is now pledging that it is on the resident’s side accusing the Government of being “out of touch” with the common people.

“The PDM stands in solidarity with the residents of Five Cays, urging the Government to take the necessary steps to remediate the occurrence of violence in the community. This message is not politically motivated as you insinuated to the residents of Five Cays.  It’s a plea for compassion and care from the premier by his terrified voters who supported him in the last election.”

Rachel Taylor,  Member of Parliament for Five Cays is also being called on to use her position to support her constituents by facing them, addressing their concerns and making better efforts to communicate.
