Another $90,000 in Drugs on Intercepted Sloop; 26th interception says TCI Police

#TurksandCaicos, September 19, 2023 – Over a matter of mere days, the Turks and Caicos has found $600,000 in illegal drugs on smuggler’s boats out of Haiti.  A most recent discovery was announced today, Monday September 18 and confirmed the huge find.

The Police report informed: “Drug Find on Illegal Vessel Marijuana with an estimated street value of NINETY-TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($92,000) was found on board an illegal vessel on Saturday (September 16th) night.

Reports state that Marine Branch Officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force were dispatched having received information from the United States Customs and Border aircraft, that a suspicious vessel was heading towards Providenciales.

At around 9:20 p.m., officers intercepted a 45ft. dark blue wooden vessel with two outboard engines heading in the direction south off South Caicos.”

It was not the only illegal cargo on the boat.

“The illegal migrant vessel was transporting a total of THIRTY-THREE (33) illegal migrants THIRTEEN (13) FEMALES, inclusive of TWO MINORS; and TWENTY (20) MALES. The illegal migrants were handed over to the Immigration Task Force for processing. The vessel was searched and the drugs were found.”

The RT&CIPF can confirm, this is the TWENTY-SIXTH interception for the year (September 17th).

On Sunday, the Police informed that 139 males and 17 females were found on a boat, apparently bound for West Caicos.  US Border and Customs aircraft supported that interception, by informing the radar station and police of the human smuggling attempt on Friday around 9:30 p.m.
