TCI Governor’s Reports on National Security Activities

#TurksandCaicos, August 18, 2023 – On August 14, Her Excellency the Governor went on board HMBS Bahamas to thank the Captain and crew for their partnership and supportive border security efforts. Last night, the HMBS Bahamas Defence Force vessel was part of a successful multi-agency OPBAT intercept operation in our territorial waters. A member of the RTCIPF and a member of the TCI Regiment were on board HMBS Bahamas as ship-riders involved in the operation.

Earlier this week, Her Excellency Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam visited the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force Tactical Unit. The Governor spent time with the team thanking the officers for their dedicated service. She then joined a vehicle patrol of the Downtown, Five Cays and Dock Yard.

The Tactical Unit is an armed team that provides a police response to incidents involving firearms, the execution of high-risk warrants and high-risk vehicle stops, and support to other law enforcement agencies during critical incidents – more information on the Unit can be found at https://www.tcipolice.tc/tactical-unit/
