Ryan Smith Appointed as Director of Business Transformation

#TurksandCaicos, August 14, 2023 – The Office of the Deputy Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ryan Smith to the post of Director of Business Transformation within the Office of the Deputy Governor.

Mr. Smith is a native of Grand Turk and received an Associate Degree in System Analysis and Computer Programming from Tallahassee Community College. He also holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Smith is also the holder of various high-level information systems certifications. In addition to his certifications, Mr Smith is affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Upon return from tertiary and initial job skills training in the United States, Mr. Smith started his career with the Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) as a System Analysis Programmer in Grand Turk. In 2010, Mr. Smith took on an opportunity with InterHealth Canada (TCI) Ltd in their Information Technology Department, and he remained there until returning to TCIG as the Director of Business Transformation.

Mr. Smith, in commenting on his appointment, stated:

“I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to my country. I am also looking forward to working with all the various departments to utilize my knowledge and experiences to improve services provided by TCIG.”

Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service, Her Excellency Anya Williams, in extending congratulatory remarks to Mr Smith, stated:

I am pleased to officially announce and welcome Mr. Ryan Smith to the Turks and Caicos Islands Public Service as the new Director of Business Transformation within the Office of the Deputy Governor.

My office has set ambitious priorities for 2023/2024 and future years to improve service delivery across the government.

Mr. Smith, in his new role as Director of Business Transformation, will be responsible for driving the transformation of public services to better meet the multi-faceted needs of the public through digitization and changes in policies and procedures to streamline and improve government services.
