#TurksandCaicos, August 11, 2023 – In the Magistrate’s Court before His Honor Mr Jolyon Hatmin Chief Magistrate of the Turks and Caicos Islands, ABLE CHARLES JOSEPH, 37 years old had appeared on charges of attacking his woman.

It is alleged that on Saturday January 7, 2023 the accused at Kew Town, Providenciales, did unlawfully and maliciously inflict grievous bodily harm on the virtual complainant, Lunie Cassius (his girlfriend).

The matter was called on two previous occasions where the defendant entered not guilty pleas and was also recalled for mention on Monday August 7, 2023.

The case was adjourned once again to enable the accused legal aid application to be considered by the legal aid panel for possible approval.

He told the Hon. Chief Magistrate, this is his first time ever being charged and placed before the Court for anything and he cannot represent himself nor is he able to understand everything in these proceedings.

He would prefer to have an attorney through legal aid.

The case has now been adjourned to  August 24, 2023.

Representing the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is Ms. Enjaleek Dickenson.
