#TurksandCaicos, August 18, 2023 – Air travelers to Grand Turk will find their experience upgraded soon with renovations for the JAGS McCartney International Airport to be completed within the financial year 2023/24.

“Our goal for this year is to see the repairs completed. We currently have a $4.29 million fence restoration project going on,” #Selvyn Hawkins, Executive Chairman of the Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority, said in a recent Providenciales town hall meeting.

Along with that fence restoration project is the construction of a Fire Hall with a brand new design, which Hawkins said better matched the aesthetic of the TCI.

Increased international airlift into the cruise capital is another project the TCIAA says it is aggressively working on.

As an aside, Salt Cay, which is currently serviced by the JAGS McCartney International Airport, will get a new fire truck.

“We are moving forward aggressively not only with Providenciales but with all our airports. The aggressiveness with which we find ourselves is to ensure that we do our part to keep our airports open and to make them viable entities,” Hawkins reassured residents.

It comes on the heels of upgrades to the passenger terminals which were damaged during Hurricane Fiona.
