#TurksandCaicos, August 29, 2023 – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is praising the intervention now in play for a horse said to have been subjected to cruel conditions in Grand Turk; exposed in the extreme heat and suffering in plain view of visitors and residents.

PETA called him, “a severely emaciated horse” in an August 4th post which also said the report they received was a tourist company was working the animal in 100 degree temperatures without food or water.

PETA said it jumped into action, submitting the complaint to local authorities, now, the horse has been seized and “ is currently receiving veterinary care and rehabilitation.”

It took weeks for the intervention but PETA is still thankful to everyone who spoke out and to local authorities for rescuing the animal.

We have asked the Turks & Caicos Animal Control unit for an update on the health of the horse, but there had been no response up to publication time.
