#TheBahamas, August 18, 2023 – Another atrocious act of an alleged sexual crime has been reported in The Bahamas involving an 8 year old girl, by an adult male.
It was reported to the South Central Police Station by the girl’s father who highlighted the alleged perpetrator as their neighbour, who was not named.
The assault is reported to have taken place near Montell Heights on Monday afternoon in the victim’s home, an apartment on Strawflower Road.
It was her older, adult brother who caught the perpetrator in the act upon his return home. He detailed the situation as his sister being touched by the man inappropriately, to which he expressed he reacted aggressively attacking the man in defense of his sister.
Two men who know the family spoke on the alleged crime, evidently upset.
One said, “We as fathers and mothers and guardians, we should look into the [well being] of these children, who they are with, you know, and sometimes you think they are with someone you really could trust and you can’t really, you can’t.”
The other strongly stated, “men in our society, we have to do a better job and step up, be more responsible in our judgment, in our actions; we cannot take advantage of women, we cannot molest little children and we cannot, I’m going to say it on national television, RAPE our wives. These are all continuity issues that the women fight for everyday and it’s revealing and it’s in the open and it’s repetitious.
In continuation, Candy Gibson from the Organization Families of all Murdered Victims, which is set to launch a Sexual Assault Division Unit, warns these offenders.
“We need to send a strong message to these pedophiles…This will not be tolerated in our Bahamas Land,” she firmly stated.
The police were unable to provide information on the suspect however, they announced in a crime report to the press that they are actively investigating the crime.
This incident is one among other disturbing reports of sexual violence, a recent one involving an 11 year old girl who was impregnated by her mother’s boyfriend for which a abortion was done via [pills], according to Wayne Munroe, National Security Minister, who says an intense investigation was launched.
Munroe further expressed that his ministry is looking to partner with the Office of The Spouse to launch educational campaigns to educate children on the fact that it is “okay” to report these kinds of incidents.
