#TurksandCaicos, July 7, 2023 – Plenary Sessions in the 45th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting were held on Wednesday July 5th, after two days of celebration marking the regional organizations 50th anniversary.

The meetings are usually closed to the press and public but Carla Barnett, Secretary General had indicated that on the list of major issues to be tackled are climate change, food security, and crime among others.

The Turk and Caicos has secured the support of both the British and The Bahamas in their bid to become full members of the organization but despite Magnetic Media queries, Government officials have not updated, in months, on progress on its application for full membership of the Caribbean Community.

The full Turks and Caicos Delegation attended the meetings alongside all other members of CARICOM and International guests.  The delegation consisted of E Jay Saunders, Deputy Premier; Arlington Musgrove, Minister of Immigration; Athenee Harvey Basden, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and; Althea Been, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Immigration.
