#TurksandCaicos, July 3, 2023 – After three months of internal work, the new police records automated system is in beta testing mode to go live for the public on August 1st.

We spoke to E. Jay Saunders, Deputy Premier and Finance Minister who oversaw the project.

He said he was proud of the efforts.

“I’m happy with the application, and I’m confident that the public will be happy with it. Hopefully this application will be used as a template to rapidly deliver on a number of e-government solutions,” he told our news team revealing that the system was the first of its kind.

“It’s the first Government application that accepts online payments.”

The Deputy Premier clarified that he took on the project for the residents’ sake and that the cost to get the nagging issue on a path to efficiency was around $28,000.

“For the record, e-Govt is not under my Ministry, but I took on this specific project because it was causing the public a lot of frustration.”

For now, a select group is testing it out to find any kinks in the system and as for how it’s holding up so far, Saunders said, “It’s going well. Beta testing is really to allow real-world users to try it out, which will identify things that weren’t thought of by the developers and have those things corrected before the application is fully released.”

The system was launched in beta on June 28th and the new advancement, according to the Deputy Premier, was in the works for six months which included the procurement process.
