Jenika Laporte appointed as Deputy Director of Department of Motor Vehicles

#TurksandCaicos, July 27, 2023 – The Office of Deputy Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Jenika Laporte to Deputy Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles within the Ministry of Home Affairs and Transportation.

Ms Laporte holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Everest University in Orlando, Florida and is pursuing Public Policy and International Relations studies.

Having worked in the Financial Industry for over 15 years, particularly in Corporate and Commercial Banking, Ms Laporte has an extensive background in Account Management, Customer Service and Relations, and Sales and Financial Solutions.

Ms Laporte joined the Public Service in July 2021 as Head of the Secretariat in the Ministry of Immigration and Border Services, a post she has held since this most recent appointment.

In her role as Head of the Secretariat, Ms Laporte assisted with the drafting of cabinet papers, ministerial statements and press releases and coordinated secretariat functions in the Ministry, which included liaising between the Permanent Secretary and Minister, and between the Permanent Secretary Board, Cabinet and House of Assembly, for the business of the Ministry progressing through the political and administrative processes.

Ms Laporte, in commenting on her appointment, stated: “When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22  This new role will allow me to be hands-on in increasing efficiency and improving service delivery within the Department of Motor Vehicles, and I am enthusiastic. Significant change is on the way as our team works toward digitising our services and how we do business to make it convenient for our customers.

Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service, Her Excellency Anya Williams, in extending congratulatory remarks to Ms Laporte, stated: “The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to provide critical services to the general public and must do so efficiently and effectively. To this end, we are investing in urgent recruitment, digitising services, relocating the Providenciales office to a more suitable location, and reviewing policies and programs to serve the public better.

As the new Deputy Director of this department, along with the Director, Ms Laporte will play a critical role in delivering on these change initiatives.”
